Anti-racism resources

Anti-racism resources

“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.“ -Desmond Tutu ⠀

I’ve been using my instagram stories to post and share about this, but I also want to leave this here on my blog. Yes I will often say the wrong thing, but then I will listen and I will learn. Usually I choose to repost the words of Black people I respect doing the work, but today I will share some of my own. It is important not to center whiteness, but it is also important not to stay silent.

New styles up in the shop

New styles up in the shop

I've been working on updating my shop this week and there are over 30 new styles to choose from.

Many of the stones in these pieces were found on my trip to Tuscon in February. Like so many of us small business owners business came to a screeching halt in March with everything being closed. I'm so glad I already had a website and Etsy so at least people could shop online with me.

Instagram sample sale!

Instagram sample sale!

I'm going to try something new and do a sample sale on instagram. The available pieces will all be prices and have photos up in my stories. I will save it as a highlight and delete things as they sell. I have lots of stock that I made for events that were cancelled so I thought this would be a fun way to do a virtual event.
I'm also sending a sneak peak out to my mailing list so you can sign up if you haven't already.
The sale is going live on Saturday May 9th.

A little love for this month's birthstone

A little love for this month's birthstone

Emerald comes from the Greek word smargos, meaning green stone, but the oldest known mine is Egyptian and dates back to 3000 BCE. It was traditionally bound to the left arm to protect travelers.

Emerald is a stone for love, luck and prosperity. It helps us cultivate the courage it takes to love and be loved. You can wear it as a reminder to stay open and get comfortable with your vulnerability. It is a stone of abundance helping you draw in abundance in all forms. This stone can help connect you to Divine Love, compassion and gratitude. It is a heart chakra stone and known as the "Stone of Successful Love".

April reading roundup

This month I had fun setting up some lists of what I'm reading and my favorite books over on bookshop.org. Bookshop.org is a cool new platform that's trying to give an alternative to Amazon that helps support local and independent booksellers.

This month I read mostly nonfiction with the exception on The Giver of Stars.

Broken Open by Elizabeth Lesser

The Deepest Well by Nadine Burke Harris M.D.

Seeds of Hope by Jane Goodall

Brainstorm by Daniel J Siegel M.D.

The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben

The Giver of Stars by Jojo Meyes

Culver City Shares: one of the ways I've been trying to spread some love and kindness right now.

A new video about Culver City Shares

I've known Lisa Schultz through The Whole 9 Gallery for at least 5 years. She carries my jewelry in the gallery, put on one of my favorite art shows - Affair of the Arts, and runs The Peace Project that has done amazing work around the world.

When the Safer at Home order hit she pivoted to work with the Culver City community to turn the gallery in to a food bank. With the help of lots of generous donors, volunteers, local businesses and a heck of a lot of hard work from her she pulled together the first offering within a week.
