See what's new over on the blog.
My monthly reading recap for July is up and these are the three books I read. So you want to talk about race by Ijeoma Oluo and Dear Madam President by Jennifer Palmieri are two book I hope get added to more reading lists for high school students. They could replace some of the outdated texts and histories that students are currently learning from. Both of these books are the types of books I would have sought out when I was a teenager because I knew there was so much more to our history than I was being taught. I was fortunate to have a few teachers who taught outside the box but there are so many who do not. Oluo talks about the school to prison pipeline in her book and racism that is so rampant in our history and so ingrained in white American culture.
Hi there and welcome! I'm the designer and metalsmith behind Amanda K Lockrow. I've been making jewelry ever since the first metals class I took in 2001 at Syracuse University. I was drawn to so many different mediums from a young age but nothing challenged and excited me as much working in metal. When I'm not making jewelry I love exploring LA and all of California for inspiration.
I try to create jewelry with intention, love and meaning. Please send me a message if you have any questions about my work. firstname.lastname@example.org
