Description

I was drawn to my first enhydro quartz crystal in a crystal shop, and added it to my meditation practice soon after. Since I've always loved working with quartz and its many inclusions, I quickly knew I wanted to search out enhydro stones I could turn into jewelry. It took a few years of searching before I found the first ones. I've been creating with enhydro quartz for the past seven years now, and each piece is genuinely one of a kind, never to be repeated. I give each one its own name, always something connected to water, since that's exactly what every enhydro carries inside. This one is named Leith, after the Water of Leith, a river running through Edinburgh.

This particular stone has three things happening at once, which makes it especially rare. It's a quicksand enhydro: fine mineral sediment that drifts and falls with every movement, suspended in the water trapped inside the stone. Alongside that, a bubble of water moves freely through the pocket, and a flash of rainbow catches the light as you turn it. Three small worlds, all happening inside one tiny stone.

About Enhydro Quartz
As the crystal grew over millions of years, water and sand became trapped inside, forming what's called an enhydro. These crystals usually grow in or around water tables, forming in skeletal layers that trap the water within. The water inside is often over a hundred million years old. Enhydro comes from the Greek word meaning "as water within," and the stone is sometimes also called bubble quartz.

The Story Behind the Collection

The Aislinn Collection was imagined and designed from my love of the different inclusions found in quartz stones from around the world, made with stones I've collected over many years. The stones I work with remind me of magical gardens and worlds, so I named the collection Aislinn, a name of Irish origin meaning vision or dream — it felt like the perfect fit for these dreamlike designs.

This is an ancient, one-of-a-kind stone, please see the care drop-down below for how to care for it with a little extra love.

Caring for Your Enhydro Jewelry

Avoid extreme heat or prolonged sun exposure, since the fluid inside could evaporate over time. Avoid freezing temperatures and sudden drops, since the crystal could crack.

If the bubble inside gets stuck, a light tap will usually get it moving again.

This is an ancient gem, millions of years in the making, so treat it with a little extra care.
