There was so much to share from Tokyo that I thought I would break it into two posts.

Part 2 is all about temples, shrines, and a little extra architecture too.

I was encouraged from a young age to be curious about religion and spirituality. I always had so many questions for the priests and my Catholic school teachers. I started to learn more about Buddhism in the 8th grade.

Japan has been on my travel wish list since I was a little. I had two other trips planned that fell through when I was younger. I was so thrilled to finally go and to get to go with Ben to celebrate his 50th birthday! But since I have wanted to go to Japan for so long, my travel wish list was so much longer than what was possible to do in just one trip.

I put together a series of blog posts to share more from my trip to Japan and South Korea. Even though I spent 3 weeks travelling, it wasn't close to enough time to see everything I wanted to. I hope that the next time I can book a couple workshops or tours to see more away from the super busy tourist spots. Some of my favorite parts of the trip were when we wandered further away and found places without the big crowds and long lines. 

My sister and brother-in-law moved to Incheon, South Korea, a little over a year ago. So when Ben and I were planning our Japan trip, we knew we had to add on a trip to visit. There is so much to see, eat, experience, and learn that we barely scratched the surface.

We booked a camping trip in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park this year. All of the Waterfalls in Kings Canyon were rushing with so much water, it was so fun to just take in. A lot of the places in Sequoia were so packed I liked pulling over to enjoy the quieter stops in Kings Canyon much more.

Month 3 of the Gems from the Vault series is all about the otherworldly transformational energy of Moldavite. With the energy of the Scorpio Full Moon really shifting and changing things that need to be changed and pushing us out of our comfort zones to start the month, it seemed like the perfect stone to choose.

These are my last rose-cut moldavite stones from a batch that I sourced probably 7 years ago. These pieces have been patiently waiting for their new homes.

Earlier this month Ben and I took a road trip up to San Francisco, Sea Ranch, Gualala, and Point Arena. We had so much fun and wished we had a day or two more to take it all in. 

We broke up the drive by stopping in San Francisco and were able to catch the Ruth Asawa Retrospective show at SFMOMA. It was so inspiring to see how much she created and how her work evolved over time.
