I've had this book on my to read list for a few years now and just got around to reading it. Since I live in LA I have of course heard of Homeboy industries and I've been lucky enough to talk to some of the men in person who work for Homeboy and hear their stories and see what having these jobs means to them. I think the biggest lesson I learned from this book is that we can love each other better and how to be a more compassionate and empathetic human. The stories in this book will break your heart, make you laugh out loud, but will also hopefully open your heart up to more compassion. If you're like me you will also find yourself crying more than once. Father Gregory Boyle gives me hope that we can do better and how we can live in a way that values all lives equally.
